Onni is our loyal companion on many quiet adventures through the forests of Finland. He is a Petit Basset Griffon Vendéen, a small but determined scent hound originally bred in France for tracking rabbits and other small game through thick underbrush.
Despite his modest size, Onni is full of energy, courage, and curiosity. Like his breed, he has a keen nose, a strong voice, and a playful, independent spirit. In the field, he is focused and persistent; at home, he is affectionate and social.
The Petit Basset Griffon Vendéen (PBGV) has a rich hunting heritage. Known for its rough coat, long ears, and happy temperament, the breed was developed in the rugged terrain of the Vendée region to navigate dense cover and follow scent trails tirelessly.
Onni embodies all the best traits of the PBGV – a dog that thrives in the outdoors, loves to work, and brings joy and character to every season, silent or not.
